Making Mingei Workshop: July 18, 1PM-3PM
Mingei - or "art of the people" is a Japanese arts movement about honoring the value in the everyday objects we use and the people who craft them.
Join Marcello Andres Ceramics for an all-levels hand-building workshop that is equal parts social, spirited, and technical. We'll start with a light introduction to Marcello Andres Ceramics. We'll dive into a convivial discussion about the connection we have with our favorite objects and the dual purpose they serve as functional art. Following the discussion, guests are invited to craft pinch pots with guidance from Marcello Andres Ceramics instructors, inspired by the philosophy of Mingei.
After the workshop, guests will be invited back to the studio in 4-6 weeks to pick up their glazed and fired creations. Attendees will be notified via email once their pieces are available for pick-up(delivery can be arranged as well).
Location: Marcello's studio in the Cedars neighborhood at 1501 Gano St., Dallas, TX 75215.
Tickets are $125 each and include the workshop, all art-making supplies, charcuterie by Fount Board & Table, sommelier-curated wine selections, and complimentary non-alcoholic beverages. In-person and open to the public. Advance registration is required. Space is limited.
*Refund policy: Nobody ~wants~ to miss a Making Mingei workshop, but we understand life happens outside of our quonset hut. 50% refund with 48 hours advance notice. No refunds for cancellations less than 48 hours prior to start time.
