Assistant Studio Manager
Full-Time | Dallas, TX | Immediate Start
Marcello Andres Ceramics is a Dallas-based studio producing handmade ceramic tableware for leading restaurants, hotels, and design clients. We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and systems-minded Studio Assistant Manager to oversee our daily operations, production workflows, and studio environment.
This is a pivotal leadership role for someone who thrives on autonomous task ownership, building efficient systems, and maintaining a high standard of excellence in a fast-paced, craft-forward production environment.
About the Role
The Assistant Studio Manager will ensure that production schedules are met, quality standards are upheld, and the physical space is optimized for both creativity and efficiency. You will act as the bridge between Marcello’s vision and the day-to-day execution of the team under the Studio Manager, managing workflows including kiln schedules, inventory, client communication and staff coordination. Direct involvement in production may also be part of the role–a background in clay is a plus.
This role requires a unique blend of administrative precision, production oversight, and interpersonal leadership.
Responsibilities
- Systems & SOPs: Implement, document, and optimize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for repeatable tasks to ensure maximum workflow efficiency.
- Production Oversight: Help manage the daily "Pouring List" and ensure production assistants are clear on their tasks; track bisque and finished inventory against Shopify and wholesale orders.
- Scheduling: Maintain a rigorous kiln schedule for both bisque and glaze firings, finalized weeks in advance.
- Inventory Management: Ensure weekly inventory audits are completed by production staff (Clay, Glaze, Tools, and Studio Supplies); help manage the purveying of raw materials and studio tools to ensure leads on all materials.
- Studio Environment: Oversee and directly maintain studio organization and cleanliness (including health standards and common areas) to ensure an optimized space for production and studio visits.
- Client Interaction: Manage the studio inbox with a response standard; provide consistent order updates to Shopify and wholesale clients using established templates.
- Events: Support our Events Coordinator with event prep and during events including retail hours, client visits and studio sales.
- Staff Communication: Maintain constant, encouraging communication with the team regarding quality control (poured and cleaned pieces) and studio vibes.
- Autonomous Management: Own your daily schedule and prioritize tasks through daily check-ins with Marcello to align on shifting studio needs.
