Making Mingei Workshop: February 17, 2024 from 11AM-1PM

$150.00

Mingei - A Japanese philosophy used to honor the value in the everyday objects we use and the people who craft them.

Join Marcello Andres Ceramics for a workshop that is equal parts social and spirited. The workshop will start with complimentary refreshments and a light introduction to Marcello Andres Ceramics. We'll have a convivial discussion about the connection we have with our favorite objects and the dual purpose they serve as functional art. During the discussion, guests are invited to craft their own pinch pots with guidance from Marcello, inspired by the philosophy of Mingei.

After the workshop, guests will be invited back to the studio to pick up their glazed and fired creations. Attendees will be notified via email once their pieces are available for pick-up (delivery can be arranged as well).

This workshop will be hosted at Marcello's studio in the Cedars Neighborhood at 1501 Gano St., Dallas, TX 75215. Learn something new, have a beverage, and get creative.

Tickets are $150 each and include the workshop, all art-making supplies, refreshments, and your finished pieces. In-person and open to the public. Advance registration is required. Space is limited.

About Marcello Andres Ortega

Marcello Andres Ortega is a Dallas-based ceramic artist. His functional work is rooted in cultivating conviviality and sentiment, inspired by the family-style dinners Marcello regularly experienced as the youngest of his Chilean-immigrant family.

In 2017, Marcello left a career in finance to open his ceramics art studio where he collaborates with restaurateurs, chefs, and mixologists to design pieces aligned with their vision. Now, under the brand Marcello Andres, Marcello employs artists to assist in the production of his own line of ceramics. He continues to scale his business in order to achieve Marcello Andres' larger goal of supporting more artists, and artfully nourishing those near and far.
